Voting for the position of Chairperson of the AustralAsian Specialty Coffee Association closed at midnight on Sunday, 23rd September. 47 of the 96 eligible members voted for the position resulting in 24 votes to Peter Wolff and 23 votes to Rob Forsyth. Peter Wolff is subsequently appointed to the position of Chairperson of the AustralAsian Specialty Coffee Association for the 2007/2008 year.
AASCA would like to thank Rob for his passion, hard work and willingness to volunteer extensive time and effort over the past 6 years. Rob has been heavily involved in forming the successful Australian Barista Championships as they are experienced today. As a result, almost all states and territories around Australia host a Barista Championship, most of which would not have occurred without Rob's support and oft-times direct input and judging. As a founding member of AASCA, and Chairperson of the association for the past 6 years, Rob has made a unique contribution to the specialty coffee industry of Australia.

An online election system has been set up to administer the election of the final position for the AASCA Executive Committee. An email has been sent to all financial members as of the Annual General Meeting (26/08/2007) informing them of the reasons behind this voting system, relevant urls and dates for opening and closing of the voting. Voting will open at midnight on 08/09/2007 and close on midnight of 23/09/2007.

A Special General Meeting and the Annual General Meeting was convened on Sunday 26th August, 2007 in the Crows Nest Community Centre, Crows Nest, Sydney at 4:00pm.
The Special General Meeting endorsed the proposed motion that “That the AustralAsian Specialty Coffee
Association re-affirm its Constitution as that previously adopted by Special
General Meeting of 13 August 2004 entitled “AASCA Constitution 13August2004”
and published on the AASCA website as:
“http://aasca.com/NewUploadFiles/AASCA_Constitution_040813.pdf”. Preliminary notice was given of the intention to convene a Special General Meeting to receive and determine revisions to this Constitution to correct and further improve its style, content and operation. Comment to be invited and received within two months and SGM to be convened as appropriate immediately after. AASCA Constitution 13August2004 The Annual General Meeting was convened at 5:00pm. Apologies were received and attendance noted. The meeting received ~ a Chair's report from the 2006/2007 Chair (Rob Forsyth), ~ an Executive Officers report covering correspondence, website, and current financial report. ~ a verbal report from the 2007 Australian Barista Champion -Scottie Callaghan ~ a verbal report from the 2007 Australian Cupping Champion -Hazel de los Reyes ~ a written report from the 2006 AUstralian Latte Art Champion (& 2007 World Latte Art Champion) -Jack Hanna Uncontested nominees for positions were accepted by the meeting, these being: ~ Vice Chair - Ben Bicknell ~ Secretary - Emily Oak ~ Treasurer - vacant Other nominees for executive positions were noted and will be invited by the new Executive Committee, prior to its first meeting.
Discussion ensued prior to a vote for the contested position of Chair, regarding the proxies received by the Executive Officer:
Proxies were submitted without nominating a person as proxy
Self-styled ballot papers were received that had been labelled as proxy forms, but did not conform with any proxy format
Proxied were receveived from members who became financial after the nominated cutoff (1 week prior to AGM)
In light of the clear intentions of these informal "proxies", the executive officer as presiding officer adjourned the meeting for the conduct of a ballot for the position of Chair by internet/email of all members who were financial at the time of the AGM (ie 26th August 2007).
